Napuen taistelun muistomerkki Isossakyrössä
Muistopäiviä on monenlaisia. Kesällä 2013 sukujuhlassa muistelimme suvun kantaisän korpraali Israel Argillanderin syntymää 300 vuotta sitten. Hänen lapsuutensa alkoi kuitenkin sotaorpona. Noin yksivuotiaana hän menetti isänsä suuressa Pohjan sodassa, Napuen taistelussa 19.2.1714. Napuen taistelun 300-vuotismuistopäivää vietettiin valtakunnallisesti 16.2.2014.
”Meidän Israelimme” isä (nimeltään Israel Israelinpoika hänkin!) oli Ruotsin armeijan sotilas, kuten poikansakin. Tämä vanhempi Israel oli furiiri eli majoittaja, silloisessa arvoasteikossa korpraalia korkeampi sotilasarvo.
9. elokuuta 2014 historiaharrastajat ja vapaaehtoiset järjestävät suuren Napuen taistelun näytöksen. 8-10.8.2014 oli Isonkyrön 1700-luvun markkinat. Silloin pääsi tanssimaan 1700-tyyliin, eläytymään isonvihan aikoihin teatterissa tai kuuntelemaan Kaari Utrion esitelmää ”Naiset ja lapset historiamme sodissa”.

Our forefather died 300 years ago in the Battle of Storkyro in Napue, Isokyrö in West Finland
There are many kind of anniversaries. The 235th anniversary of the death of our forefather Corporal Israel Argillander is February 12, 2014. He died of fever in Pihtipudas. In summer 2013 at the family reunion we remembered his birth 300 years ago. He was only about one year old when his father died at the Battle of Styrkyro on February 19, 1714.
In Finnish the battle is named after the village of Napue. The war was called the Great Northern War between Sweden and Russia. The time after this was called the Greater Wrath. Russia occupied Finland for a few years. Thousands fled to Sweden, hid in forests or were taken as slaves to Russia.
18th Century Market Fair – ”Life in War and Peace”
On August 8-10, 2014 in Isokyrö, the weekend was full of 1800th century events. Some 150 artisans gather to sell their products on the market fair. The historical troops will reconstruct the Battle of Storkyro. The soldiers´ camp was situated by the river Kyrö. Also there was a possibility for exhibitions, concerts, historical tours, old working methods, and a chance to dance the way they did 300 years ago and a lot more. A good opportunity to get an idea of what our ancestor’s life was like back then. Read more in these links:
